Editorial Standards

Trust is built in the wording.

RootBook aims to be clear about what is established, what is promising, what remains uncertain, and where education must give way to professional care.

Our Standard

Clear claims. Careful language. Useful decisions.

Health communication can create confidence faster than the evidence deserves. RootBook resists miracle language, false precision, and certainty built from a single study.

We communicate the strength of evidence, the population studied, practical relevance, meaningful limitations, known risks, and the difference between education and medical care.

Evidence Scale

A simple language for confidence.

The scale helps readers understand how strongly a practical statement is supported. It is a communication tool, not a substitute for expert systematic review.

AStrong human evidence, broad scientific agreement, or established guideline support.
BMultiple relevant human studies with generally consistent findings.
CPlausible and promising, but limited, mixed, early, or indirect clinical evidence.
DInsufficient evidence, major uncertainty, or unclear practical value and risk.
XNot recommended because evidence, quality, legality, or risk is materially concerning.

Editorial Process

How a RootBook idea is developed.

The process scales with the seriousness of the claim. Higher-risk topics require more caution, context, and professional review.

01

Define the question

Separate the actual decision from the headline, trend, or mechanism that made the topic interesting.

02

Review the evidence

Prioritize human outcomes and authoritative sources, while using mechanisms and observational data in context.

03

Test the wording

Check whether each statement accurately reflects evidence strength, population, size of effect, and uncertainty.

04

State the boundaries

Identify risk, contraindication, medical oversight, unanswered questions, and where professional care is appropriate.

05

Update when needed

Revise material when important evidence, guidance, or practical understanding changes.

Responsible Boundaries

Education is not diagnosis.

RootBook is designed to improve understanding. It does not replace licensed, individualized medical care.

No disease treatment promises

We do not present educational content as a cure, guaranteed outcome, or replacement for medical treatment.

No remote diagnosis

General information cannot determine an individual's diagnosis, prescription, or clinical plan.

No hidden certainty

Emerging hypotheses, preliminary findings, and expert interpretation are identified as such.
